  1. The 5 Biggest Mistakes Dieters Tend to Make

My mood matches today's weather nicely -- it's dreary and rainy here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. And I'm sitting here all sad and misty over my derailed diet plan.

I got off to a great start several months ago, but I've allowed life to push me off the path to a healthier body and a lighter weight.

On the bright side, I am down around 20 pounds, but I know I need to jump start my stalled diet and get the scale needle moving south another 20 pounds or so. I also need to head off regaining the weight I lost.

So what went wrong? That's the question I've been asking myself a lot in recent days.

While I try to sort that out, check out...

The 5 Biggest Mistakes Dieters Tend to Make

    1. Lack of support. Studies show that dieters who go it alone are more likely to fall sooner... and to fail faster at lasting weight loss. There is strength in numbers.

    2. Lack of a plan or goals. It's one thing to say, "I'm gonna lose weight!" It's another to say "I'm gonna lose weight by walking before breakfast, eating 1,200 calories and drinking eight glasses of water a day!" That's a starting plan. You also need a goal so you can see progress and celebrate milestones along the way.

    3. Lack of physical activity. A weight loss plan without a fitness component is like a car without fuel. It may look good but it isn't going to take you anywhere fast. You can still lose weight but dieters who work out burn more calories. It's as simple as that.

    4. Can't find the time. If you have time to eat, you have time to diet. We come up with some of the worst excuses for not having enough time to diet. Modern Family... Dancing with the Stars... We seem to have time for a lot of must-see TV shows that gobble up the time we could be using to work out.

    5. Boredom. A weight loss plan needs to keep you interested and engaged. Variety is the spice of a healthy life! Get bored with your diet or workout and you're more likely to give up... and plop right back on the couch to watch more TV!

So now that we know why so many of us fail at dieting, how do we fix the problem and get back on the right track? A good place to start is right here at where you can link up with other dieters facing the same issues as you. Get the support you need by finding a diet buddy.

It's time we stop making the same old mistakes that have turned us into frustrated yo-yo dieters. Recommit yourself to a brighter future -- one with more energy, better health and less weight!
