  1. 3 Critical Ways Diet-to-Go Goes Above and Beyond to Ensure Quality

Diet-to-Go has a mission: Help customers meet their individual health goals, learn what healthy eating looks like, and do it for life.

Dedication to quality and taste go into every meal our team of committed employees makes.

Diet-to-Go has a loyal customer base (some have been with us for more than 20 years!) because we value creating a wide variety of chef-prepared meals that are healthy, balanced and extremely tasty.

We also know the importance of food safety. It’s something we take very seriously — and ensures we stand out from our numerous competitors, who often do not adhere to the same strict guidelines we have followed since we were founded in 1991.

Here are three critical ways we go above and beyond to ensure the quality of every meal we produce.

    1) We embrace space (wait, what?)

In the 1960s, NASA (you’ve probably heard of those folks, right?) and Pillsbury (maybe heard of them, too?) developed what are called “Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point” — we’ll call them HACCP for short — food handling procedures to make sure food on space flights was safe. (Kind of an important thing for the astronauts, ya know?).

The USDA and FDA thought NASA and Pillsbury we're onto something. So they made HACCP the market standard for safe food handling.

Not only do we adopt them, including onsite assessments, but we take it to the next level: We identify where hazards might occur and prevent them before they happen — it’s a whole “Minority Report” thing. We follow the highest safety protocol and standards in our procedures and production.

We’re literally monitoring all potential hazards as they pass through critical control points — from the moment the food supply trucks enter our docking bays, through the process of creating the delicious meals our customers know and love, to the minute they leave and are on their way to one of fresh local pickup partners or directly to your door.

    2) Is it cold in here?

No matter where you eat fresh, delicious food, it all has one thing in common: It has to be kept cold before it can be heated to perfection and land on your plate.

As soon as our chefs craft and cook the meals, they are flash frozen or refrigerated to ensure their tastiness whenever you’re ready to pop them in the oven or microwave.

We even use refrigerated trucks to transport meals.

Literally every step of the way, your meals are maintained at the optimal temperature.

    3) We’ve got the whole “service and reliability” thing down pat.

What’s the first thing you look for when making a decision about hiring someone? If you’re smart (and we have no doubt that you are), experience is a big deal.

At Diet-to-Go, we are proud to have been a family-owned and family-operated business for three decades. Yes. You read that right. Three decades.

We’re even prouder of the incredible team of dedicated employees – many of whom have been with us the whole 28 years.

Our people know their stuff: They know how to make your meals tasty and delicious; they know how to meet every quality control standard; and they know how to meet every safety requirement.

They’re so good, in fact, that we have literally never, not once, missed a delivery — even in severe weather. Remember that historic blizzard that struck Virginia in 2016, the one that brought like, 3 feet of snow and shut down pretty much the entire state? Yep, Diet-to-Go meals still got out.

At this point, there should be no question in your mind.

Our years of experience figuring out the best processes, creating the tastiest recipes, partnering with the best vendors, developing the best procedures and offering the most variety (we’re talking 500 meals!) begs the obvious question: Why look anywhere else?
