    Los Angeles is a hotbed of healthy restaurants.

    But are there any that actually serve good-tasting food?

    You bet there are, and we wanted to make sure you don’t waste time (and calories!) eating out at one that just doesn’t cut it.

    As part of our ongoing series exploring the metros where Diet-to-Go offers fresh local pickup, this week we’re rounding up all the delicious places you can grab a bite of healthy food in the City of Angels.

    1) Evo Kitchen. 7950 W Sunset Blvd #104, West Hollywood.

    Your friend’s gluten-free, you’re bestie’s vegan and you prefer meat. Not a problem at this family-run restaurant focused on serving up eco-friendly, organic dishes that are sustainably sourced whenever possible. Menu items range from veggies and hummus, to wraps, pizzas, fish and more amazing salads than you would have thought possible.

    2) Kitchen Mouse. 5904 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles.

    Whether you’re looking for nutritious spins on classic comfort food dishes or traditional, vegan, gluten-free full-on healthy dishes, you’re going to find it at this quaint café created by a former home cook. Here you’ll find the classics like pancakes, rancheros and avocado toast for breakfast, plus kale salads, tempeh reubens and mushroom tacos for lunch — plus so much more. Oh, and did we mention they cater?

    3) Flower Child.1332 2nd St., Santa Monica.

    Besides the adorable name, the dishes here are among the top-rated in L.A.’s healthy-eating scene. Flower Child is all about using proteins that are raised all-naturally and organic produce — all sourced locally whenever possible. That’s because Flower Child believes food taste best when it’s treated best. And that it does, from sweet glazed potatoes, to quinoa dishes, to mac-and-cheese, whole grain wraps, bowls and more, there is no shortage of yumminess to find at Flower Child.

    4) Tocaya Organica. West Hollywood, Venice.

    Mexican food, meet healthy. With bold flavors and locally sourced ingredients, you can order the kinds of things you’d typically expect to find at a Mexican spot, burritos, salads, tacos, bowls, you name it. But the difference is in how the casual restaurant chain sources food and cooks it, which makes for healthier dishes that don’t skimp on flavor. Comer bien.

    5) Sweetfin Poke. Multiple locations.

    The best-tasting poké bowl ever? Visit this spot to find it — your taste buds will thank you. Poké bowls from this spot use sustainably sourced raw fish and bring together everything you love about sushi into one delicious concoction. Their poké bowls mix flavors from their Hawaiian heritage and the California coast, and they are pretty much to die for.

    6) Hugo’s Restaurant. Multiple locations.

    Hugo’s is full-fledged healthy, but without all the pretentious that sometimes come with that. It’s a quaint little spot that we just had to include on our list. That’s because its founder’s philosophy is to cook up healthy, unique meals that taste good, and are good for you. Try the Asian stir fry or tagine stew, for example, and you’re going to think you died and went to heaven. The same can be said for pretty much everything else on the menu (and there’s plenty to choose from).

    7) Elf Café. 2135 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles.

    Elf Café is full vegetarian, but don’t let that sway you. The organic puff pastry tart alone makes it worth a visit, but add in the amazing wine selection and the cute atmosphere, and it’s a must-go. People say an outing there is like having dinner at your family’s house, with friendly, attentive staff and dishes cooked to perfection.

    8) Kaya Street Kitchen. 109 N. Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles.

    If Asian street food is your thing, you’re in luck with Kaya Street Kitchen. We’re talking the whole nine yards — food on sticks, rice bowls, noodle dishes, all teeming with those tangy southeastern Asia flavors we’ve come to love. Kaya is also big into catering, and definitely should be up for consideration at your next big soiree.

    9) Spread Mediterranean Kitchen. 334 S. Main St., Los Angeles.

    It wouldn’t be a solid “top 10” list without an amazing Mediterranean spot on the list. The cuisine is renowned for its delicious flavors wrapped in healthy goodness, and Spread is no different. Walk into the restaurant, pick your base (wrap, rice, etc.), your main (meatballs, chicken, mushroom, falafel) and then your style (traditional, smooth & cool, savory & red or cheesy & spicy). They also have family options and some amazing cocktails to choose from.

    10) Bondi Harvest. 1814 Berkeley St., Santa Monica.

    Think about everything you love about L.A., the cool ocean breeze, the sandy beaches, the ocean waves crashing, and pack those ideas into the food, and you’re at Bondi Harvest. With a healthy philosophy that believes food tastes best with simple ingredients, the dishes are flavorful and fun. Try the quinoa pudding or rainbow bowl, or go all-in on a lentil beef burger with a kale salad on the side. You most certainly won’t regret it.
